Dr. Carlton L. May

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them around thy neck; write them upon the table of

It was God’s gift to More Than Conquerors Church (formerly known as Sylvester Baptist
Church) when Pastor C. L. May was appointed Pastor in 1995. A native of Greenville,
Mississippi. He has a unique, dynamic life-changing ministry that is “Unlike the Traditional and
Beyond the Ordinary”.  Under his leadership motto, “A Life Changing Ministry”, More Than
Conquerors Church has tremendously increased in membership and countless souls have been
saved. 


Dr. May is a gifted Preacher whose expository teachings are based firmly on the Word of God. 
With boldness and clarity of speech, his down-to-earth illustrations, biblical knowledge, and
exemplary leadership clearly communicate the truth of God’s word. His vision is to Evangelize
the World, Educate the Saints, and Edify the Body of Christ. Passionate about saving souls,
Pastor May, “A Significant Voice of Christ” has crossed denominational barriers to influence the
church with a relevant kingdom message.  The influence of his ministry continues to transform
the lives of many as he continues to travel extensively throughout the United States and East
Africa proclaiming the uncompromised Word of God.

For over a decade, Dr. May has compassionately and passionately served as a Professor at
Beulah Heights University. Teaching the following courses: Pulpit Speech, Expository
Preaching, and Church History.


In 2007 Dr. May founded Life Water Inc. and currently serves as President. Life Water, Inc. is a
nonprofit organization focusing on education, enhancement, and empowerment. His focus is to
direct programs and services that empower others by addressing issues on closing the
educational gap, financial literacy, affordable housing, and vocational training. Pastor May is a
tireless administrator in creating innovative partnerships with small businesses, churches, elected
officials, and community leaders in the metropolitan Atlanta counties.


Through hard work and dedication to pursue excellence in education, Pastor May graduated from
Beulah Heights University in Atlanta Georgia, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical
Studies.  He also earned a Master Degree in Theological Studies and a Doctorate of Ministry
from Faith Theological Seminary in Tacoma, Washington.


Dr. May is married to LaTonje May.  They have four children, Porsha, Travis, Caleb, and Jayla
currently reside in Henry County, Georgia.
